Boston. February 27, 2006. Fluidmesh Networks Inc., a Boston-based MIT spin-off, is launching Fluidmesh 2200, the first “intelligent” wireless transmitter for video-surveillance applications, in conjunction with ASIS International 2006 Annual Seminar and Exhibits in San Diego, CA.
Fluidmesh 2200 is a wireless product with innovative transmission capabilities that are not present in traditional Wi-Fi or HiperLAN devices. Based on advanced Fluidmesh 2200 is a wireless product with innovative transmission capabilitiesmesh networking algorithms, Fluidmesh technology is able to create an “intelligent” wireless network which optimizes the data transmission by performing “intelligent” routing of packets in real time. Fluidmesh 2200 is the first wireless mesh product specifically designed for video-surveillance applications. Thanks to its advanced capabilities, Fluidmesh 2200 stands apart from any competing wireless product on the market.
The strength of Fluidmesh 2200 is the advanced internal prioritization and optimization system, capable of detecting the type of packet transmitted (eg. TCP, UDP, etc.) and video-encoding standard employed (eg. MPEG4 I-frame, MEPG4 P-frame, M-JPEG). Based on the packet type and characteristics, the wireless system automatically optimizes every packet transmission.
“Mesh-based technology is the evolution of Wi-Fi point-to-point and point-to-multipoint technologies” - explains Torquato Bertani, Fluidmesh co-founder and CTO “Fluidmesh 2200 effectively solves all the challenges related to wireless video-streaming for CCTV applications. Today we are moving from an old generation of unreliable WiFi-based solutions to innovative products based on the state-of-the-art mesh architecture. Using Fluidmesh 2200, security installers and system integrators will be able to design wireless systems that are both extremely reliable and highly flexible”.
The innovative networking algorithms developed by Fluidmesh Networks leads to great advantages in terms of flexibility and ease of installation. A new Fluidmesh unit can be easily added to the network with no need for changing the configuration of the rest of the system. The routing protocol detects the new node automatically without requiring any human intervention. These advantages make Fluidmesh 2200 the product of choice for mobile, temporary or nomadic video-surveillance and enable several innovative applications for video control. For example, Police Departments can easily move or add new cameras for temporary events such as summit meetings, demonstrations, strikes, sport events, etc.
Fluidmesh 2200, launched in Europe six moths ago, is today installed in many different locations such as municipalities, seaports, shopping malls and golf clubs. Fluidmesh products are currently sold only trough selected CCTV distributors and system integrators who joined the Fluidmesh Channel Partners Network. In conjunction with ASIS International 2006 Annual Seminar and Exhibits, Fluidmesh Networks will unveil Fluidmesh 2200 to the US market.
“Almost half of our potential customers are based in the US – adds Umberto Malesci, Fluidmesh president and co-founder “We are proud to present Fluidmesh 2200 in conjunction with ASIS 2006 in San Diego. The exhibit will allow us to expand our network of Channel Partners in North America. Many more municipalities, university campus, seaports, airports and industrial plants will be able to secure their premises with a wireless CCTV system characterized by unmatched reliability and flexibility”.
