Boston, MA - June 2009 – Fluidmesh Networks technology continues to meet an ever increasing range of wireless surveillance needs. The wireless leader, together with integration company Acme Technical Group, recently completed an impressive project to provide video
surveillance to the Vietnam Memorial Bridge in Richmond, Virginia.
Transurban Group, which runs the tolls and maintenance for the bridge, sought to install a video surveillance system to monitor road conditions. The ramps of the Vietnam Memorial Bridge, which cross the James River, are quick to freeze over in winter. As part of the
Pocahontas Parkway linking Interstates 95 and 295, the bridge provides a Southern bypass of Richmond and accommodates an especially heavy volume of traffic.
Just some of the special challenges that the install presented spanned height and weather issues, including snow and high winds during installation. “Because there was no existing infrastructure, the Fluidmesh point-to-point wireless network was absolutely the way to go for
this installation,” explains Project Manager John Bodolay of Acme Technical Group, based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This video surveillance installation, which got underway in the fall of 2008, incorporates the Fluidmesh 1100 and Pelco Spectra IV IP camera.
“Wireless networks allow for a simple set-up and offer a reliable and cost-effective surveillance solution,” adds Cosimo Malesci, co-founder and vice president of Fluidmesh. The end-user easily and affordably realized the goal of acquiring video of the bridge. “The Fluidmesh product solution is rock solid and virtually self installs,” Bodolay adds.
