Why highways should isolate self-driving cars in special smart lanes

Venture Beat published an Op-Ed by Fluidmesh CEO Umberto Malesci on smart highways and self driving cars.
Self-driving cars are the frontend of technology and represent the main focus of innovation players such as Google, Tesla and Toyota to mention some. Currently most development efforts concentrate on the vehicle, introducing new sensors and developing intelligent algorithms that can predict and react the behaviours of objects that run around the vehicle. Umberto Malesci, Fluidmesh CEO and co-founder, shows a different viewpoint where the intelligent car is not the only player. Intelligent streets, with dedicated smart lanes, can be a different option to enable autonomous drive in a quicker and safer way.
